Live F1 timing
Live timing screens, sector deltas and the in-race pace chart for every grand prix weekend of the F1 season.
Today's schedule
Formula 1, Japanese Grand Prix, Suzuka - Free Practice 1, 11:30 AM JST; Free Practice 2, 3:00 PM JST. Sprint weekend: Sprint Qualifying, Saturday 11:30 AM JST. The live timing app refreshes every sector.
Live timing: sector-by-sector
The desk's live timing widget opens 60 minutes before the session start. Sector times update in real-time; the mini-sector splits show pace deltas between drivers. Tyre compound and stint age appear on the timeline.
Pit stops are flagged with station time. Yellow flags and safety cars are colour-coded: yellow (caution), VSC (full course yellow), SC (safety car). Track limits violations are listed at the bottom of the timing screen.
Stoppage-time and flag handling
F1 uses a flag system: green (full speed), yellow (caution, no overtaking), red (session stopped), blue (lapping traffic), black (car must return to pits), chequered (session end). Safety car periods neutralise the field; VSC reduces speed by a fixed delta. The race director's notes flag track limits sectors.
Three upcoming fixtures
Apr 19: Chinese Grand Prix, Shanghai - Free Practice 1, 11:30 AM CST. Apr 26: Miami Grand Prix - Free Practice 1, 4:30 PM EDT. May 3: Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Imola - Free Practice 1, 1:30 PM CEST. Schedules confirmed two weeks before each race.
Editor's note
The desk's live timing app covers all F1 sessions, F2 and F3. Refresh cadence: every sector during qualifying, every 100ms during the race. Coverage note: red flags, safety car and pit stop time penalties are flagged in the timing header within 30 seconds.
