Trade window status
IPL 2026 trade window opens May 1 and closes May 15. The IPL Governing Council confirms a single window each season. Retention lists are due April 25. The desk's trade tracker updates daily.
Trade tracker
Confirmed trades (as of Apr 14): Cameron Green from Mumbai Indians to Royal Challengers (₹15 cr). Harshal Patel from Sunrisers Hyderabad to Punjab Kings (₹8 cr). Mohammad Nabi from Kolkata Knight Riders to Rajasthan Royals (₹2 cr).
Rumoured (source-attributed): Shardul Thakur from Chennai Super Kings to Lucknow Super Giants. Ishan Kishan from Mumbai Indians to Gujarat Titans. Devon Conway from Chennai Super Kings to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Retention and auction logic
IPL retention rules allow up to six retentions (including uncapped players). Franchises retaining four or more players can use the Right-to-Match (RTM) card at the auction. Salary cap: ₹110 cr for the 2026 cycle.
Three moves to watch
1) Shardul Thakur to Lucknow Super Giants - swing allrounder fits LSG's seam-light XI. 2) Ishan Kishan to Gujarat Titans - top-order wicketkeeper-batter fills the slot vacated by Wriddhiman Saha. 3) Devon Conway to Sunrisers Hyderabad - overseas opener slots alongside Travis Head.
